Hellenic Recycling Center
The Hellenic Recycling Center S.A. (EKAN S.A.) was founded in June 2002 with a scope for the treatment of Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (W.E.E.E.) according to the Law 2939/2001 (Solid Waste Management & Producers responsibility) and the Presidential Decree 117/2004 (transposition of the EU Directives 2002/95/EC (RoHS) & 2002/96/EC (WEEE) into national law).
In October 2004, EKAN S.A. signed a contract with the company “Appliances Recycling S.A.” a company duly authorised by the Greek Ministry of Environment for the Management of the Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment in Greece. The full operation of company’s plant for the dismantling and recovery of WEEE , as well as the removal of hazardous waste , started in August 2005 .
